Holding Material down

What is the best way to hold material down.

Just wondering if a metal honey table would be better as I would be able to use strong magnets.

Any help would be most grateful.

I cut out some small brackets that are magnetised and sit on the edges of the rubber mat, and hold MDF flat. i always make sure that i put MDF in with the curve going up.

its helped heaps.
