We have been enjoying experimenting with the new 10watt laser unit.
It appears that the extra power and finer beam size produces great results on pine with a depth map image.

Way cool!! Can’t wait to try the new higher power unit. Numerous projects lined up and waiting.
I watched a Youtube explaining how to create depth maps in Blender and a commenter said that s/he didn’t bother wetting the wood but cleaned it with an AIR ERASER. That led me down the Air compressor trail and I’ve seen both Aluminium Oxide and Borax used as a grit. Might be worth exploring.
Is there a tutorial on how to do this?
