3D relief carving

Coworker is expecting their first child, the 3D baby scans are blurry because the imaging process is slow and the kids moves around. He texted me a pic of the screen in excitement and that is all I had to work with but it came out pretty good. Took about 10 mins to get the image ready and an hour to shoot it (roughly 2x2”). Hit it with a toothbrush and a little bit of spray lacquer to seal in the rest of the soot. Cool thing is it acts like a hologram, depending on what angle you look at it from nothing is there, adjust a little and it jumps right out at you. Used pine, raster image, 325mm/min, and grayscale set for average.

Wayne, all I can say is simply awesome.

That is inspiring!!
